Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM)

ILM is an internationally recognised management-awarding body whose qualifications align with the UK’s Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF) and are accredited by the Office of Qualifications & Examinations Regulation (OfQual)

Levels of Certification

ILM qualifications range from Level 2 to 7. Elite Training delivers Levels 2, 3 & 5

Accreditation Format

Choose from a list of modules to make up the necessary accreditation (i.e. Level 2, 3 or 5). Once complete, delegates are awarded a Unit Certification for the Level obtained

Extra modules allow delegates to gain more Credit Values (CVs). Once additional modules are complete, delegates obtain a Full Award, Certificate or Diploma, for that level

So, in each level, delegates can achieve:

  • Unit accreditation
  • Award accreditation
  • Certification Accreditation
  • Diploma Accreditation (NB: Diploma Level is not offered by Elite Training)

Duration: 4 days minimum, depending on modules selected


Programme Content

Delegates must obtain a minimum of 6 credits (2-3 modules) to obtain a Level 5 Award in Leadership & Management. The course prepares delegates for all necessary assignments (see module options below)

Develop Critical Thinking | 2 Days • 3 Credits

Using logical, objective-thinking to manage everyday problems (business planning, risk management, problem-solving, practical application); how management styles are affected by value systems; management style guidance & application.

Managing Projects in the Organisation | 2 Days • 4 Credits

4 phases of the project management lifecycle: Preparation, Delivery, Closure & Evaluation; practical application.

Leading Innovation & Change | 2 Days • 5 Credits

Problem solving; identifying options; making improvements; planning & implementing change (incl. Stakeholder engagement).

Understanding Governance of Organisations | 2 Days • 6 Credits

Governing Body’s roles & responsibilities; procedures to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory requirements (financial planning, budget management, risk management, recruitment & selection).

Developing & Leading Teams to achieve Organisational Goals and Objectives | 2 Days • 4 Credits

Leadership styles; objective setting; performance expectations; targets & standards; methods for monitoring performance.

Managing Resources | 1 Day • 4 Credits

Planning, maintenance & security of resources.

Managing Stress and Conflict in the Organisation | 2 Days • 3 Credits

Identifying and managing stress & conflict in the workplace; overview of legislative context.

Managing for Efficiency and Effectiveness | 2 Days • 4 Credits

Business improvement methods (capacity planning, lean processing, statistical process control, TQM) to improve operational processes.

Managing Information | 1 Day • 4 Credits

Information capture & flow; analysing & interpreting information; information communication formats & methods.

Preparing to apply Lean Production and Improvement Methodologies to Operational Problems in Service Delivery | 2 Days • 8 Credits

Waste in operational processes; options for improvement; drafting project proposals to justify actions; business operational improvement techniques (Lean, Systems Thinking, DMAIC, Total Quality Management).
